Simply giving the meaning to the words can lead to ambiguous results. So always keep the structure of the sentence in the mind and translate the sentence with correct grammar syntax.

Secondly, search for the phrases as well. Sometimes idioms do not mean exactly according to the words. For example, the English phrase “beating around the Bush” does not mean that you are beating someone behind or around bushes.

But if there is any document like a legal document or any precedent then you can use the legal terminology of the target language.

Avoid Passive Voice

Translating any document is already a difficult task don’t make it more complex by using passive voice. Passive voice also destroyed the readability of the text because people like to read simple and understandable sentences rather than long and difficult ones.

Keep your sentences short but clear. Avoid using difficult synonyms and avoid putting just meanings of words. Understand the information which is provided in the source document and try to translate it as a whole instead of doing translation sentence by sentence.
