Some of the most important UK immigration requirements

(Last Updated On: June 27, 2020)

When you are applying for immigration in the UK, the big problem is that the piles of documents that you are submitting are not in English. They all need to be translated before they are presented to the UK immigration system. So what are the UK immigration requirements for translated documents?

UK immigration requirements

The requirements are relatively straightforward; NordicTrans looked them up for you and will explain them in this article. The UK immigration office has only one requirement when they are asking for the translated documents that will be submitted by an applicant.

The Official translation

The official translation is the only requirement of the immigration office. But, what is that? No, it is not the usual translation; official translations are much more straightforward in nature. According to the UK immigration requirements, all your translations need to be certified.

Certificate of Authenticity

The translator or translation agency will provide a certificate to the client, which is made according to UK law and declares that, to the best knowledge of the translator, the translation is accurate and is a true representation of the original. The translator will provide his contact details in the certificate, and that would have to include experience and eventual accreditation.

The format of the actual translation

In an official translation that is conducted in the UK, the translation needs to look like the original. Since there is no template to speak of, as each country has its own type of certificate, the text needs to be extracted from the original document, translated and added back into the template.

The UK Immigration requirements are a vast and broad subject that we cover in small portions with our various articles. You can see other relevant posts in our feed that will be of great interest to you. But we decided that we should focus on how to get the translation for immigration to the UK in one post as well so that you will know how that process works.

A list of common documents needed to be translated

While this may differ from case to case, here it is a list of the personal documents you need to have translated if they are in any other language than English:

  • birth certificates
  • marriage certificates
  • divorce decrees
  • diplomas
  • academic records
  • any other school or academic degrees
  • police records

It is worth-noting that the above documents are needed not only for immigration reasons, but you will also need certified translation for any of them if you want to continue your studies in the UK or if you want to get a job in the UK.

When it comes to translating so many documents, people are usually translating a couple in hope that it will be enough, and then they have to translate the rest. This may be a good idea in order to split the expense over a period of time, but may also lead to having to pay more if you need them translated in a hurry. With every company that you ask for a quote, also ask if they have any extra rush rates, they usually have.

NordicTrans  is one of the best translation agencies in the UK which provides certified translation for immigration in 24 hours or less, and we do not have any extra rush rates. Feel free to visit our office in Birmingham or to ask for a free quote online.
